Applications

BLS® 610 is extensively utilized in a variety of applications due to its strong UV absorption capabilities and exceptional photostability, particularly within the 300-400nm wavelength range. It is especially beneficial for polymers requiring high UV resistance and thermal stability, such as PC (Polycarbonate), PMMA (Polymethyl Methacrylate), PBT (Polybutylene Terephthalate), and various high-performance plastics like polyamides (PA), polyacetals, and polyolefins. Its high molecular weight helps prevent issues like mold plate out and die lip buildup. BLS® 610’s low volatility and excellent compatibility make it suitable for complex applications including complex moldings, fibers, sheets, and laminated or co-extruded parts, enhancing durability and performance in automotive components, building and construction materials, and any other products exposed to intense UV radiation and high temperatures.

Advantages

  • Protects plastics and other substrates from the damaging effects of UV radiation
  • Compatible with a broad range of engineered plastic resins
  • Strong absorption of UV radiation in the 300-400 nm region
  • Synergistic performance in combination with HALS or antioxidants for enhanced performance
  • Low volatility

Guidelines for Use

Suggested use levels in plastics range from 0.2% to 1.0%, and in coatings from 2% to 6% based on total solids. BLS® 610 is commonly added by typical techniques such as powder, solution or melt blending. Combinations of BLS® 610 with other light stabilizers such as HALS and benzoates often show synergistic performance in both plastics and coatings. The exact formulation to be used is dependent on the substrate, performance requirements, and other factors, and should be determined by the user based on testing to simulate actual conditions of use. Please contact your Mayzo representative for specific recommendations for your application.
