Applications

BNX® 4120 is extensively utilized in the rubber and plastic industries, serving as an indispensable antioxidant and antiozonant. It finds primary applications in products demanding high thermal stability and longevity, such as tires, belts, hoses, electric wires, high-voltage cables, and distribution cables’ jacketing. This is in part due to its high molecular weight which affords low volatility and minimal leaching. Its effectiveness is not limited to rubber; it is also beneficial in a wide range of polymers including PP, HDPE, LDPE, LLDPE, PC-ABS, and various engineering thermoplastics (PBT, PET). The product is especially valuable in high-temperature environments and applications requiring long service lives, where it helps in maintaining the integrity and aesthetic qualities of the materials. When used with phenolic antioxidants BNX 4120 typically outperforms BNX® DLTDP and BNX® DSTDP.

Advantages

  • Provides excellent thermal and oxidation stability for long-term durability
  • Enhances performance and longevity when paired with phenolic antioxidants
  • Features low volatility and minimal odor, improving user and environmental experience
  • Minimal migration and low odor levels

Guidelines for Use

Suggested use levels in plastics and adhesives range from 0.05 to 1% by weight. Combinations of BNX® 4120 with primary antioxidants often provide synergistic performance. BNX® 4120 is also suitable for use in combination with phosphite processing stabilizers and light stabilizers (UV absorbers and benzoates). The exact formulation to be used is dependent on the substrate, performance requirements, and other factors, and should be determined by the user based on testing to simulate actual conditions of use. Please contact your Mayzo representative for specific recommendations for your application.

Storage

This product may be stored up to two years in a sealed container. Containers should be kept tightly closed when not in use and stored in a cool, dry place. Extended storage at elevated temperatures or exposure to direct heat could decrease product shelf life.

Safety
