Applications
BNX® 1790 is a highly effective antioxidant and process stabilizer in polyolefins (PE, PP, olefin copolymers and blends, TPO), styrenic polymers, polyurethanes, and adhesives. Its excellent resistance to gas fading discoloration makes it ideal for use in fiber, film, and tape applications as well as in PE for rotational molding applications.
Advantages
- Superior processing stability in polyolefins as compared to standard antioxidants
- Inherently resistant to warehouse discoloration (“gas fading”)
- Synergistic performance with secondary antioxidants (phosphites, thioethers)
- Low volatility and good extraction resistance
- FDA cleared for use in polyolefins, polystyrene, and rubber-modified polystyrene
Guidelines for Use
Suggested use levels range from 0.02% to 1% by weight. Due to its high-performance characteristics, BNX® 1790 can often be used as a processing stabilizer at lower load levels as compared to standard phenolic antioxidants. Combinations with other antioxidants such as phosphites and thioethers often show synergistic performance. BNX® 1790 is also suitable for use in combination with light stabilizers, including hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), UV absorbers, and benzoates. The exact formulation to be used is dependent on the substrate, performance requirements, and other factors, and should be determined by the user based on testing to simulate actual conditions of use. Please contact your Mayzo representative for specific recommendations for your application.
