Applications

BNX® 2042 is a highly effective, phenol-free hydroxylamine-based antioxidant designed for applications requiring excellent color stability and resistance to gas fading. It is particularly well-suited for polypropylene fiber, where it enhances melt processing stability and maintains low color during manufacturing. In automotive TPO and TPE applications, BNX® 2042 provides superior protection against gas fading and discoloration, ensuring long-term aesthetic and mechanical integrity. It is also ideal for use in polyolefins where low color and high thermal stability are critical. When combined with phosphite antioxidants such as Benefos® 1680 or Benefos® 1626, BNX® 2042 functions as part of a high-efficiency melt processing stabilizer system, delivering enhanced protection against thermal degradation and discoloration during polymer processing.

Advantages

  • Provides excellent melt stability and color control in polyolefins and other plastics
  • Synergistic performance with phosphites and/or hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS)
  • Inherently resistant to discoloration from gas fading
  • Good resistance to extraction
  • Low-volatility
  • FDA compliant

Guidelines for Use

Suggested use levels range from 0.02% to 0.2% in polyolefins. Combinations of BNX® 2042 with phosphites (BENEFOS® 1626, BENEFOS® 1680) and/or HALS (especially BLS® 119, BLS® 1944) often show synergistic performance. BNX® 2042 is also suitable for use in combination with other light stabilizers, including UV absorbers, and benzoates. The exact formulation to be used is dependent on the substrate, performance requirements, and other factors, and should be determined by the user based on testing to simulate actual conditions of use. Please contact your Mayzo representative for specific recommendations for your application.

Storage

This product may be stored up to two years in a sealed container. Containers should be kept tightly closed when not in use and stored in a cool, dry place.

Safety

Please consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to handling or using this product.

FDA Regulations

BNX® 2042 has been cleared for use in food contact applications under 21 CFR §178.2010 (antioxidants and/or stabilizers for polymers). Please consult the referenced regulations for complete details, including restrictions of use.
