Overview

BNX® 1612 is a synergistic blend of the multifunctional antioxidant BNX® 565 and the phosphite secondary antioxidant BENEFOS® 1680 in a 1:2 ratio. This blend provides outstanding protection against thermal oxidative degradation over a broad temperature range in hot melt adhesives, tackifier resins, and elastomers.

Chemistry

Composition                    33% BNX® 565 (CAS No. 991-84-4)

                                            67% BENEFOS® 1680 (CAS No. 31570-04-4)

Typical Properties

Product Form:                 Solid

Applications

BNX® 1612 is particularly useful for the stabilization of hot melt adhesives (especially those derived from unsaturated elastomers and/or rosin ester tackifier resins) and rosin ester tackifier resins. It is also suitable for the stabilization of elastomers.

Advantages

  • Outstanding performance during high temperature processing and long term heat aging
  • Improves resistance to discoloration and viscosity stability in hot melt adhesives
  • Inhibits skin formation in hot melt adhesives
  • Helps to prevent “lock-up” phenomena in adhesives used with silicone release liners
  • Improves the melt stability of rosin ester tackifier resins
  • Non-discoloring, non-staining, and low-volatility
  • FDA compliant

Guidelines for Use

Suggested use levels range from 0.25% to 1%. BNX® 1612 is also suitable for use in combination with light stabilizers, including hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), UV absorbers, and benzoates. The exact formulation to be used is dependent on the substrate, performance requirements, and other factors, and should be determined by the user based on testing to simulate actual conditions of use. Please contact your Mayzo representative for specific recommendations for your application.

Storage

This product may be stored up to two years in a sealed container. Containers should be kept tightly closed when not in use and stored in a cool, dry place.

Safety

Please consult the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) prior to handling or using this product.
