Overview
BNX® 1010 is a high molecular weight primary antioxidant that provides protection against thermal oxidative degradation over a broad temperature range in plastics, elastomers, adhesives, tackifier resins, lubricants, waxes, and other substrates.
Chemistry
Chemical Name: Pentaerythritol tetrakis(3-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)
propionate)

Melting Range: 110 -125oC
Molecular Weight: 1177.6 g/mol
Applications
BNX 1010 is a highly effective antioxidant and process stabilizer in polyolefins, including polyethylene, polypropylene, polybutene, and in olefin copolymers such as EVA. It is also suitable for use in polyacetals, polyamides, polyesters, polyurethanes, PVC, styrenics, elastomers (butyl rubber, SBS, SEBS, EPM, EPDM, and other synthetic rubbers), adhesives, natural and synthetic tackifier resins, lubricants, waxes, and many other organic substrates.
Advantages
- Provides protection during high temperature processing and long-term heat aging
- Synergistic performance with secondary antioxidants (phosphites, thioethers)
- Non-staining and non-discoloring
- Good resistance to extraction, very low volatility
- Odorless and tasteless
- Extensive FDA clearances
Guidelines for Use
Suggested use levels range from 0.02% to 1% in polyolefins, from 0.2% to 1% in hot melt adhesives, and from 0.1% to 0.5% in synthetic tackifier resins. Combinations of BNX® 1010 with secondary antioxidants such as phosphites and thioethers often show synergistic performance. BNX® 1010 is also suitable for use in combination with light stabilizers, including hindered amine light stabilizers (HALS), UV absorbers, and benzoates. The exact formulation to be used is dependent on the substrate, performance requirements, and other factors, and should be determined by the user based on testing to simulate actual conditions of use. Please contact your Mayzo representative for specific recommendations for your application.
